Sourdough lovers across the nation are feeling extra excited today because last night, the sourdough lovers club gained the most iconic new member: Taylor Swift. It’s no surprise that Swift loves to bake; she is known for her chai sugar cookies, and has even been known to make homemade poptarts for the members of her boyfriend, Travis Kelce’s, Kansas City Chiefs team. But last night, when Swift joined Travis and his brother Jason Kelce on their New Heights podcast to announce the release of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, she revealed the hobbies she’s been enjoying during her post-Eras tour break, and among them is a pretty intense obsession with perfecting her sourdough recipes.
“Right now, we’re very deep in a sourdough obsession that has taken over my life,” Swift said during the podcast. And she isn’t just making basic sourdough, she is getting creative with fun flavor combos. “There’s a blueberry lemon, there’s cinnamon swirl, cinnamon raisin,” Swift shared. “And this one I’ve been workshopping for the girls because they love everything rainbow: Funfetti sourdough.”
Kelce was quick to add that his personal favorite is Swift’s blueberry recipe, but he’s also a big fan of the original sourdough and even asked her to make and send two loaves of it to him while he was at training camp in Florida.
Swift added, “I’m just like, always like baking bread and texting my friends and being like, can I send you some bread? I need some feedback. Do you like this one better than you liked the other one? Like, I did the rise a little differently. I’m on like sourdough blogs. There’s a whole community of us, and I didn’t know it.”
Baking isn’t the only hobby Swift has been enjoying in her downtime. She shared that she has been working on sewing, adding, “I specialize, as you know, in children’s purses and baby blankets.” She also revealed that she enjoys painting and cooking.
After such an intense tour schedule, we’re so happy to see Taylor taking some time to rest, relax, and get as obsessed with sourdough as the rest of us.
