It turns out, the creation of the iconic feel-good series Ted Lasso had a dark cloud around it. Turns out, the role of Keeley Jones, played by Juno Temple, was allegedly, originally set up for one of Jason Sudeikis’ exes.

Actress Keeley Hazell claimed in her memoir, Everyone’s Seen My Tits, that the role of Keely Jones was meant for her.

She claimed via UsWeekly that her ex, star and creator, Jason Sudeikis, met to “discuss the part he had written for me” in a “football show set in England.”

She wrote, “The show hadn’t been picked up at this point, meaning, it was just a script waiting to be sold. But the idea of me being a lead in a TV show was enough to make me wet my pants with excitement.”

However, it all went crashing down when Sudeikis told her via text that she was going to be “offered another part” in the show, saying, “I felt like I’d been punched in the chest.” (Hazell went on to play Bex, the wife of one of the leads, Rupert, and she was in seven episodes total).

Now, as we said, they’re exes. However, how does the timeline look? Was this a vindictive move after a breakup? Nope. What happened was that the pair actually met years prior on the set of Horrible Bosses 2 back in 2014, where she played Chris Pine’s assistant. They seemingly stayed in touch to talk about Ted Lasso, and then this occurred.

The show premiered in 2020, but they didn’t get together until 2021, confirming their romance after weeks of speculation. They broke up in 2022 due to their demanding schedules. However, many believed they were in good standing because it seemed as though Hazell defended Sudeikis amid his custody battle with ex Olivia Wilde.
