Teens Share Their Amazon Prime Day Wish Lists — Here’s What They’re Shopping!

As Amazon Prime Day is in full swing, SheKnows hit the streets of Manhattan to talk to real teens and find out what items are on their wish lists this summer (or already added to their carts?!). While the items differed, of course, every teen agreed that there’s nothing more important than good discounts and affordable prices.
While the older teens we interviewed agreed that apartment and dorm essentials are their personal picks, younger teens wanted makeup, clothes, and some other big-ticket items, such as cameras. Mackenzie, 19, who’s moving into her first apartment, told us, “There’s a couple things that I need for my kitchen and living room, so I guess I’ll take a look on that. I’m just going to go on there and see what there is — honestly, just whatever’s affordable.”
We asked the teens how often they shopped online, and “constantly” was the answer we kept hearing. While some teens admitted they prefer to shop in person, they agreed that they follow the best deals, even if they’re online. “I’m pretty frugal, so I don’t online shop super often, but when I do need things, I look online to see if there are better prices online than in in-person stores,” Bianca, 19, shared. As we talked to more teens, it became obvious just how careful they are with their money. It makes sense that as teens start to make and spend their own money, discounts and deals are increasingly important to them. We asked some teens just how important sales are, and the resounding answer? Extremely. “Sales are definitely a big thing for me because I don’t have a job, so I don’t have a lot of money to spend,” Cierra, 17, shared.
So parents, take note: as you splurge on your own deals, maybe save your teen some hard-earned cash and check off one of these items from their wish list while you’re at it!
