Labor Day weekend is upon us! While many of us spend a ton of time trying to decide what to wear during the trip, I’d say it’s just as important to figure out what you’re going to wear while you’re traveling to your destination. Naturally, you want to be comfortable, and finding the right pants to wear is probably the most important thing. After all, the last thing you need is to be stuck wearing a tight pair of jeans while you’re on a six-hour flight across the country. If you have an important event or work lunch to attend immediately after traveling, you’ll want to choose something that’s both comfortable and polished to keep you looking put together.
As someone who’s traveled recently, it’s not super easy to find a pair of travel pants that check off all the boxes. Because of that, I talked to frequent travelers to get some recommendations on the best and comfiest pants for traveling.

“When it comes to important qualities to look for when searching for travel pants, you should look for something that doesn’t wrinkle, doesn’t stretch out, and is non-constricting without looking like sweatpants,” Samantha Greene, owner and designer of travel fashion brand, Tiger and the Monkey, tells SheKnows. Unless of course, you want to be traveling in sweats, which I’m all for as well. Per Greene, it gets bonus points if it can be easily washed in the hotel sink or hides stains well.

Lululemon Daydrift High-Rise Trouser
To kick off the list, we have my personal choice, the Lululemon Daydrift High-Rise Trouser. I recently wore these during a five hour flight from Los Angeles to Orlando, and I have zero regrets. The pants are super chic and flowy (so much styling potential!), they basically look like a pair of classy you’d wear to work. The pull-on waistband makes you feel like you’re wearing sweatpants, but you’ll never know otherwise as these feature a faux fly.
The material used for the Daydrift High-Rise Trouser is Lululemon’s four-way stretch Luxstreme fabric. So, not only does it look and feel luxe, it’s extra comfortable to wear as well — I could move around with ease, and never felt restricted at all. The best part was, I pretty much went straight from the airport to a nice dinner and still looked totally put together. You have currently have your pick of seven colors, all of which, are super versatile. The pants are a bit of a splurge at nearly $130, but they’re definitely worth the investment, especially if you travel a lot or just want a pair of comfy work pants.

They’re way more breathable than standard leggings (a must for someone like me with temperature sensitivity, or even long flights), and the pockets are so helpful when I need quick access to meds, lip balm, or even just my headphones between connections. – Gigi Robinson, content creator, author, and Founder of Hosts of Influence

My go-to traveling pants are the VSX Elevate Flare Leggings. Soft as butter, and super comfortable for power walking through an airport to catch a flight; I’ve never understood those who can wear jeans, especially when you wanna take an in-flight snooze, which these are perfect for. They’re also great for layering if you’re going somewhere colder, but lightweight for hotter temps. Dress them down with sneakers or up with boots. Completely my go-to. If you’ve ever traveled for over 6 hours on a flight, you know the importance of being able to adjust. These have an adjustable waist and, if needed, you can untie the waist completely. I don’t travel without them. They’re the best sweatpants I’ve owned to date, and I’m not a sweatpants-person outside of traveling! I own them in black (can attest that it does not fade!)” – Jeanel Alvarado, retail strategist, founder and CEO of RETAILBOSS

Then I picked up a pair of Decathlon’s Quechua NH100 Women’s Hiking Pants and they are my new go-to travel pants. The stretch fabric keeps me comfortable, even on 24-hour trips. The pockets are always useful for stashing my phone or tickets when I need to grab my kids’ hands. And the cut is flattering enough that I don’t look like a total schlump. (Gotta love French brands!)
