Julia Roberts and Amanda Seyfried proved that the Venice Film Festival can support the same look twice on the red carpet — and it’s good for the environment. At the photo call for Roberts’ new movie, After the Hunt, on Aug. 29, she wore a chic look from Versace.

The tailored outfit consisted of a striped button-down shirt, a navy blue blazer, and straight-leg jeans paired with a gold belt buckle. It was a fabulous look, coordinated by the A-list actress’ stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, who posted the outfit. Seyfried, who also employs Stewart for her red carpet outfit, commented on the post.

“Please let me wear the same outfit,” she wrote.

Well, Seyfried’s pleas were heard, and on Aug. 31, she was spotted in Roberts’ outfit at the Venice Film Festival. “Thank you @juliaroberts for your generosity and sustainability 😉 Sharing is caring! ❤️ #AmandaSeyfried borrows Julia’s @versace photo call look for her own photo call. Thank you,” wrote Stewart on a second Instagram post on Sept. 1.

Eagle-eyed fashionistas will note that the only detail that is different is the shoes — Roberts wore close-toe heels and Seyfried chose strappy sandals.

Rewearing outfits is becoming common in Hollywood as actresses like Cate Blanchett and Angelina Jolie, who passes them down to her daughters, consider the environmental impact of fashion.

“It should be completely unremarkable, the idea of re-wearing (clothes), because we do it in our daily lives,” she told Business of Fashion in March 2023. “We do it out of habit, we do it out of choice, we do it out of necessity.”

“It’s an expression of who you are and how you look at the world,” she continued. “I’ve always re-worn and recycled and all of those things. There’s nothing remarkable about that. There are millions of people doing that.”

And it just so happens that Stewart is Blanchett’s stylist too — they are starting a movement one A-list star at a time. It sends a message to the rest of Hollywood that fashion can be chic more than one time around on a red carpet.
